Consumer-Generated Advertising

In May we told you about Ozzie Osborne's web site offer to anyone with video editing tools - make Ozzie's next music video from green screen clips available for download. In June we described the Zimmer Twins web site, where children by the thousands assemble animated clips, add text balloons, change backgrounds and colours in creating their own unique stories from stock assets - with a chance to see them on television. Today it's about Cheerios. That's right, the cereal. And to get involved with this promotion you don't need a video camera or editing software. What Cheerios wants you to do is write the copy for their TV ad.

So, CNN wants your pictures and videos of breaking news and weather, YouTube wants whatever you care to upload, Cheerios want you to write their ad for them. Ozzie wants you to make his next music video. Who has time to work for a living? Which you will have to do, because the other thing they all want is everything for free!
